What is PicoSure?
PicoSure (Cynosure) is the original picosecond laser (755 nm). Used for sun spots, freckles, melasma, post-acne marks, uneven tone, and with the Focus lens for pores and fine lines. 'Pico toning' is Korea's standard brightening treatment.
Who is it for?
People with sun damage, freckles, melasma, dark spots, dull or uneven tone.
How does it work?
Ultra-short picosecond pulses shatter pigment into particles the body clears, with a photomechanical rather than heat effect, so there is little risk of post-inflammatory darkening on Asian skin. The Focus lens array creates micro-injuries that stimulate collagen.

Downtime and what to expect
Mild redness may occur immediately after treatment, but it usually subsides within a few hours, with minimal disruption to daily activities.
Aftercare (clinic instructions)
- Reapply generous amounts of moisturizer and skin-repair cream regularly to prevent dryness in the treated area.
- Always apply sunscreen thoroughly when going outdoors to help prevent pigmentation from recurring and new hyperpigmentation from developing.
- Avoid scrubs and skincare products containing active ingredients, such as retinol or vitamin C, for 1 week, as these may irritate the skin.
- Avoid alcohol, saunas, Korean heated rooms (jjimjilbang), and other activities that expose the skin to heat for approximately 1 week after treatment.
How many sessions and how often?
A consistent course of at least 10 sessions, spaced 1 week apart, is generally recommended.
Planning it into a Seoul trip
This treatment is tagged "last day" at Mio because there is visible redness, marks or swelling for a few days; schedule it on your final day so it fades at home. It can be done on any day of your trip. Numbing cream, when used, adds about 30 minutes; plan 15–20 minutes (full face toning) plus consultation. See the first-day / last-day guide.

Frequently asked questions
Will one session remove my sun spots?
Individual spots (lentigines) often lighten 50–80% after one spot treatment and scab for 5–7 days. Overall tone (toning mode) needs a course; travelers usually do 1–3 sessions and continue at home.
Is PicoSure safe for dark or tanned skin?
Yes with adjusted settings; picosecond lasers carry a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation than nanosecond lasers. Avoid heavy sun 2 weeks before.
