What is Thermage?
Thermage is the original monopolar radiofrequency skin-tightening device by Solta Medical. It is the standard treatment for skin laxity, fine lines, and surface firmness, and the usual partner to Ultherapy (Ultherapy lifts the deep layer, Thermage tightens the skin layer).
Who is it for?
People with loose, crepey or thin skin, early jowls, loose eyelid skin, or who want an overall firming effect with no needles and no downtime. Good for sensitive patients who cannot tolerate Ultherapy.
How does it work?
Radiofrequency heats the dermis evenly to around 55–65°C while the tip cools the surface. Existing collagen contracts immediately and new collagen forms over 3–6 months. 300 shots covers the cheeks and jawline, 600 shots covers the full face and neck, and the Eye tip (225 / 450 shots) treats the eyelids and crow's-feet area.

Downtime and what to expect
Redness or mild swelling may occur immediately after treatment but typically resolves within 1–2 days without interfering with normal daily activities.
Aftercare (clinic instructions)
- Warmth, redness, skin tightness, swelling, or dryness may occur after treatment. These are normal reactions to the heat generated by radiofrequency energy in the dermis.
- Your skin may feel tighter immediately after treatment. Improvements in firmness and elasticity develop gradually as collagen regeneration progresses.
- Your skin may temporarily become sensitive. Avoid scrubs, exfoliating treatments, and vigorous massage after treatment.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, alcohol, and strenuous exercise for 1 week.
- Using skin repair cream, keeping your skin adequately moisturized, and following the recommended treatment intervals are important for maintaining results.
How many sessions and how often?
Treatment every 6–12 months is generally recommended to maintain results and support ongoing skin firmness.
Planning it into a Seoul trip
It can be done on any day of your trip. Numbing cream, when used, adds about 30 minutes; plan 60–90 minutes (numbing cream optional; most patients do not need it) plus consultation. See the first-day / last-day guide.
