What is Ultherapy Prime?

Ultherapy Prime is the FDA-cleared micro-focused ultrasound lifting device made by Merz. It is the original 'Ulthera' and the newest generation (Prime) of it. Mio Clinic uses the genuine Ultherapy Prime system with authentic transducers.

Who is it for?

People in their 30s to 60s with sagging along the jawline, cheeks, under the chin, or drooping brows who want lifting without surgery and without visible downtime. It suits travelers who want a single-visit, long-lasting lifting treatment.

How does it work?

Focused ultrasound heats precise points in the SMAS layer (the same layer a surgical facelift tightens) to about 60–70°C, which contracts the tissue immediately and triggers new collagen over 2–3 months. The number of 'shots' (lines) determines coverage: 100 shots is one area (eyes or jawline), 300 shots covers the lower face, 600 shots covers the full face.

Downtime and what to expect

Temporary swelling or redness may occur immediately after treatment but typically resolves naturally within a few days, with minimal disruption to daily activities.

Aftercare (clinic instructions)

  • Swelling, tenderness, aching, tightness, or reduced sensation may occur after treatment. These are normal reactions to ultrasound energy being delivered to the deeper tissue layers (the SMAS layer).
  • Some patients may experience throbbing when pressure is applied or a bruised sensation. These symptoms gradually ease within a few days to 1 week.
  • You may wash your face and apply makeup on the day of treatment, but avoid rubbing or strongly irritating the treated area.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, strenuous exercise, and excessive alcohol consumption for at least 1 week.
  • Your skin may temporarily feel dry. Regular moisturizing care and the use of skin repair cream are strongly recommended.
  • Results from collagen regeneration may develop gradually over several weeks. The effects and how long they last vary from person to person.

How many sessions and how often?

Treatment every 6–12 months is generally recommended, depending on individual skin firmness and elasticity.

Planning it into a Seoul trip

This treatment is tagged "last day" at Mio because there is visible redness, marks or swelling for a few days; schedule it on your final day so it fades at home. It can be done on any day of your trip. Numbing cream, when used, adds about 30 minutes; plan 60–90 minutes including numbing cream (about 30 minutes of numbing, 30–45 minutes of treatment for 300 shots) plus consultation. See the first-day / last-day guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is it the real Ultherapy?

Yes. Mio Clinic uses the genuine Merz Ultherapy Prime system. You can verify it yourself by tapping your phone on the unit's NFC chip and scanning the transducer QR code, and a certificate of authenticity is issued.

How many shots do I need?

300 shots is the most common choice for the lower face and jawline. 600 shots covers the full face including the forehead. 100 shots is for one small area such as the eyes.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

It is the most uncomfortable of the lifting treatments. Mio applies numbing cream for about 30 minutes first; most patients describe it as a deep, hot ache that passes immediately after each line.

Can I get Ultherapy on the first day of my trip?

Yes. There is no visible downtime; mild swelling or tenderness can last a few days but does not show in photos.

How long until I see results?

Some tightening is visible immediately; the main lifting effect builds over 2–3 months as new collagen forms and lasts about a year.

How much does Ultherapy Prime cost at Mio Clinic?

From KRW 399,000 (VAT excluded) on the current event price list; see the price table above for every item.

What is the downtime for Ultherapy Prime?

Temporary swelling or redness may occur immediately after treatment but typically resolves naturally within a few days, with minimal disruption to daily activities.

How often should I repeat Ultherapy Prime?

Treatment every 6–12 months is generally recommended, depending on individual skin firmness and elasticity.

Can I get Ultherapy Prime without speaking Korean?

Yes. Mio Clinic has English, Japanese, Mandarin and Thai-speaking staff on site; book via WhatsApp, LINE or WeChat, or walk in.
